Was an OBD newbie. Plugged it in, it read the code, I Googled it and fixed a loose wire. Saved $200 right there.

Good little scanner. I wish the cable was a bit longer, but it does the job on my BMW.

No app needed — that’s why I chose this one. Worked on my 2004 Honda and my wife’s 2018 VW.

Cleared a P0420 code after replacing an O2 sensor. Took 30 seconds. Mechanic wanted $80 just to clear it.

Solid build. Only downside is it doesn’t show live data, but for the price it’s a steal.

I keep it in the glovebox. When the light came on during a road trip, I diagnosed it in a parking lot and kept going.

CHAPTER 01

The Grip of Uncertainty

You’re on your way to work when the check engine light blinks on. Your mind races: Is it the transmission? A sensor? You pull over, pop the hood, and stare blankly. The nearest mechanic wants $120 just to connect a scanner. You feel helpless.

CHAPTER 02

A Simple Solution

A friend tells you about the Ancel AD310. For less than the cost of that diagnostic fee, you can own a tool that reads those codes yourself. You order one and it arrives in a neat package. No apps, no subscriptions — just plug it into the OBD2 port and turn the key.

CHAPTER 03

Take Control Under the Hood

The screen lights up with a clear code and definition. In seconds you know it’s a loose gas cap. You tighten it, clear the code, and the light stays off. You’ve just saved a trip to the shop and learned something about your car. From now on, you’re the first to know what’s going on.

About this item

HONEST FAQ

Your Questions, Answered

No jargon, just straight answers.

Which cars does this scanner work with?
It covers any OBDII compliant vehicle (most cars 1996+ in the US, 2001+ in Europe/Asia). If your vehicle uses standard OBDII protocols, the AD310 will read engine and emissions codes. It also supports EOBD for European models. Note: it does NOT work on pre-1996 vehicles or non-OBDII heavy trucks.
Will it read ABS, airbag, or transmission codes?
No — the AD310 is an engine-focused scanner. It reads and clears powertrain (check engine) codes only. For chassis or body system codes you’d need a more advanced tool.
Is the menu in Russian? I’m not comfortable with English.
Yes, the AD310 offers a Russian-language interface option, along with English and several other languages. You can easily switch via the setup menu.
Do I need a smartphone or app?
Not at all. This is a stand-alone device. No Bluetooth pairing, no app downloads, no subscription fees. Just plug in and use.
Can it turn off the check engine light?
Absolutely. After reading the code and performing the necessary repair, you can use the scanner to clear the code. The light will stay off if the problem is truly fixed.
How long is the cable? Is it easy to reach?
The cable is about 2.5 feet (0.8 m) long, so you can comfortably stand outside the car and read the screen. The plug is angled to fit tight under-dash OBD ports.
Does it provide live data or just codes?
It shows freeze-frame data (a snapshot of engine parameters when the code set) and I/M readiness status for emissions testing. It does not provide a live data stream — for that, you’d need a more advanced or Bluetooth model.
