Soup and congee finally reach the bottom of the bowl with this long-handled, hand-painted stoneware spoon. Hand-painted Japanese-style stoneware spoon with a long handle that adds charm to everyday meals

Solves
  • reaching deep into bowls and jars
  • plain tableware that lacks character
  • dishwasher-safe durability for daily use

Reach the bottom of every bowl with a spoon worth setting out

Soup and congee settle at the bottom of a deep bowl, and a short spoon never gets there. This long-handled, hand-painted stoneware spoon reaches the bottom and matches the bowls you already love.

A long handle that reaches the bottom

Reaches the bottom of the bowl

The handle runs long enough to dip into a deep bowl without tipping it, and the shallow round bowl lifts broth and rice cleanly from the base. It works the same way in a at breakfast as it does in a soup pot at dinner.

Hand-painted, made to look it

Each spoon carries a hand-painted flower, fish, moon, sun or plain finish on speckled matte stoneware. No two pieces are identical, and that is the point. The motif sits on a glossy glaze, so the surface reads as handmade in person.

Dishwasher safe for daily use

The stoneware is high-temperature fired and handles the dishwasher, refrigerator and disinfection cabinet without losing its finish. After a weeknight bowl of soup, it goes straight into the rack with the rest of your dishes.

Dishwasher safe for daily meals

  • Dishwasher safe

The packaging confirms dishwasher use. Set it on top of other dishes so it does not knock against metal.

  • Fridge and disinfection safe

Suitable for refrigerator and disinfection cabinet use, and for rice steaming machines.

  • Handle gently

Ceramic is fragile. Set it down rather than dropping it into a drawer full of heavy utensils.

Questions and answers

Is it fragile, and how should I handle it?
w
Wanelo · seller

Yes, it is ceramic, so treat it the way you would any good bowl. Set it down gently and keep it on top of other items rather than buried under heavy metal utensils. A spoon holder on the counter is the easiest home for it. Stoneware sits between fine porcelain and everyday plastic: sturdier than the first, and far easier to replace than the second.

Do the small black dots or bumps on the glaze mean it is defective?
w
Wanelo · seller

No. Each piece is made semi-manually in a small kiln, so small black or white dots, pinhole bubbles, glaze bumps and uneven color are part of the process. They do not change how the spoon scoops or how it cleans. Check the photos, and if you want a perfectly uniform finish, this is not the piece for you.

Is the spoon big enough for real soup and rice?
w
Wanelo · seller

It measures about 16.5 cm long, about 5 cm wide, and weighs 70 g. The long handle reaches the bottom of deep bowls and jars, which is where a short spoon fails. The bowl is shallow, so it holds less per scoop than a standard soup spoon. It suits congee, broth, sauces and small dessert portions best.

Is it dishwasher and refrigerator safe?
w
Wanelo · seller

Yes. The packaging confirms it is suitable for the dishwasher, refrigerator and disinfection cabinet, and for rice steaming machines. Over time, one spoon costs less to keep than a set of fine porcelain pieces that chip and need replacing.

Does the hand-painted design vary between pieces?
w
Wanelo · seller

It does. Every spoon carries its own hand-painted motif, whether a flower, fish, moon, sun or a plain finish, so the set will look slightly different from piece to piece. That variation is what makes a mixed set of spoons look considered on the table.
