Description

Loose tea tastes fuller when it steeps freely, and this polished steel tube lets you brew it in the mug you already own. Load the leaves, hang the hook on the rim, and lift the tube out when the brew is ready. No bags, no teapot, no leaves on your lips.

Steep loose tea directly in your cup with no bags or teapot needed

Solves
  • loose tea leaves floating in the cup
  • need for disposable tea bags
  • messy scooping and straining of loose leaf

Steep loose tea in your cup, no teapot needed

Before: leaves float, spill, and stick to your lips. After: a polished steel tube holds the leaves while your tea brews clean and clear in any mug.

Everything a cup needs, nothing it doesn't

Stainless steel tea strainer hooked over the rim of a glass of pale tea

A J-hook that rests on the rim

The curved hook sits on the edge of your cup or glass, so the tube hangs in the liquid without you holding it. Set it, pour, and get on with your work.

Polished steel tube showing fine perforated mesh body and open scoop end

Fine 304 stainless mesh

The body is precision perforated 304 stainless steel. Loose leaves stay inside the tube while the tea colors the water around them. Food-grade steel also rinses clean and keeps no leftover tea smell.

Scoop-open end, tapered tip

The open scoop end takes a pinch of leaf in one motion. The closed, tapered tip gives you a clean grip when you lift the tube out of the cup.

From scoop to sip in under a minute

  1. 1
    Scoop the leaves

Load the open scoop end with loose leaf. Fill only to the rim so the leaves can swell as they steep.

  2. 2
Hang the hook on your cup

Rest the curved J-hook on the rim and let the tube sink into the water. Pour hot water over the leaves.

  3. 3
    Steep, then lift out

Steep for your usual time, lift the tube out by the hook, and set it on a napkin. The tea is clean and ready to drink.

A quick rinse after every cup

  • Rinse right after steeping

Empty the leaves and rinse under warm water while the steel is still warm.

  • Never leave wet leaves inside

Wet leaves can sour and leave a stale smell in the mesh holes.

  • Steel keeps flavor out

304 stainless does not hold tea odor the way plastic does, so the next cup tastes like the last tea you chose.

Small enough for a desk drawer

Questions and answers

Will loose leaves escape through the mesh?
w
Wanelo · seller

Not during normal steeping. The body is fine perforated 304 stainless, so the leaves stay inside while the tea flows through. Fill only to the scoop rim so the leaves have room to swell, and hang the hook on the rim so the tube stays suspended instead of sinking into the cup.

Does 25x55mm fit standard mugs and thermos openings?
w
Wanelo · seller

The tube is about 15 cm long and 2 cm wide, which is a single-cup tool. It hangs from the rim of most mugs and glasses, and it fits into wider thermos openings. Brew one cup at a time and you get a full, even steep without the leaves crowding the tube.

Can it clog with fine tea dust?
w
Wanelo · seller

Very fine dust can pass through a fine mesh and settle in the cup. If your blend is powdery, sift it before you load the tube. Whole leaf and broken leaf steep cleanly.

Is 304 stainless steel better than a cheap strainer?
w
Wanelo · seller

304 is a food-grade steel that resists rust and does not hold tea odor the way plastic does. Thin mesh balls clog and keep steeping long after the tea is ready. The steel tube costs more up front, but one tool replaces a steady supply of tea bags, and loose leaf brews fuller than the dust left in a bag.

Can I use it in a glass or a travel mug?
w
Wanelo · seller

Yes. The hook rests on a glass rim or the opening of a travel mug, and the tube hangs in the liquid. Load it at home, then steep on the go. Lift it out before you close the lid.

How do I clean it after steeping?
w
Wanelo · seller

Lift the tube out, empty the leaves, and rinse it under warm water right away. Do not leave wet leaves inside overnight, since they can sour and leave a stale smell in the mesh holes.
