Older ball molds leave a ridge where the water meets the mold wall, and that ridge freezes into a ring. This tray is built to freeze out smooth and round, so every sphere reads as one solid piece. Pair it with a ice molds clear setup for a full bar lineup.
- Built for a slow melt
A sphere has less surface area than a cube of the same volume, so it chills the glass without diluting the whiskey as fast. Your last sip tastes closer to the first. One cavity can also hold a garnish frozen inside, which gives the glass a finished look.
From tray to glass in three steps
- 1Fill through the top holes
Pour cold, filtered water into the small fill hole on top of each sphere. Tap the tray on the counter to release trapped air so the spheres freeze clear.
- 2Freeze until solid
Set the tray flat in the freezer and leave it until every sphere is frozen all the way through. Pulling them early risks cracks and cloudy centers.
- 3Release with the side tab
Flex the silicone gently and lift the side tab to ease each sphere out. Drop one into a rocks glass, pour the whiskey, and let it chill the pour slowly.

Clarity comes down to the water and the freeze. Use cold, filtered water, fill slowly, and tap the tray to shake out bubbles. Freeze until solid all the way through and the spheres come out clear.
