Crack pistachios and melon seeds in one squeeze with a compact stainless-look tool
- difficult to open pistachio shells by hand
- fingernails damaged by shelling
- messy nut-cracking without a tool
Crack every pistachio without the fingernail damage
Before: sore thumbs, split nails, and half the bowl still in shells. After: one squeeze per shell and a bowl that empties on your terms.
Three notches for three shell sizes

Three notches for every shell
The 6mm, 7mm and 8mm notches are cut into the jaws in graduated steps. Seat a small melon seed in the 6mm notch, move up to 8mm for larger pistachio shells, and the shell splits along its seam with one squeeze. You stop forcing shells into the wrong opening.

Grip that holds the shell
The diamond-pattern grip panels give your fingers something to press against, so the shell does not slide while you squeeze. The scissor-style ring handles sit comfortably on your fingers, and the rivet pivot opens and closes without catching.

Built from zinc alloy
At 80 by 58 mm, the tool is small enough to sit beside the bowl on the coffee table. The zinc alloy body is light in the hand and is built for pistachios and melon seeds. It is not a heavy-duty steel cracker, so save it for small shells and you will get years of use out of it.
Seat, squeeze, and pick out the seed
- 1Pick the notch
Hold the shell up to the three openings. Choose 6mm for small melon seeds, 7mm for mid-size shells, and 8mm for larger pistachios.
- 2Seat the shell seam-up
Place the shell in the notch with the seam facing up. A sideways shell crushes the seed instead of splitting it.
- 3Squeeze once
Close the ring handles with one firm squeeze. The shell splits along the seam and the notch keeps the halves from sliding.
- 4Pick out the seed
Pull the seed out whole. Try the pointed tip on any shell that clings to the seed, then move on to the next one. Rinse the tool when the bowl is empty.
Small enough for the snack bowl

- 58 mmWidth
- 6 mmSmallest notch
- 7 mmMiddle notch

Questions and answers
Most pistachio shells seat in the 7mm or 8mm notch and split with one squeeze. The thickest shells may need a second squeeze, and you may need to rotate the shell to find the seam. Shells that are much larger than the 8mm notch are better handled by a larger nutcracker.
Zinc alloy is not steel, and the tool is built for small shells, not walnuts or hard-shelled nuts. For a bowl of pistachios or melon seeds on movie night, the jaws hold their shape and the notches keep their size. Keep it dry between uses and it will last through many bowls.
Yes. The 6mm notch is sized for melon seeds and small shells, and the 7mm and 8mm notches handle pistachios and similar nuts. The pointed tip can also lift stubborn shells off the seed before you crack the rest.
Rinse the pliers under warm water right after use, since salt and oil dry into the notches. Dry thoroughly and wipe the rivet area before you put it away. Pre-shelled bags carry a markup, so one tool that handles every bowl pays for itself quickly.
Kids can use it with an adult nearby. The pointed tip and the pinch point at the rivet can catch small fingers, so supervise younger children at the bowl.
