Description

Plain rice turns into a sushi night the whole table can join. The 10-piece kit presses, rolls and shapes rice so slices come out even and rice balls hold together. Ready for a weekend dinner, a party platter or a packed lunch in one evening.

Make restaurant-style sushi rolls and rice balls at home in minutes with one 10-piece kit

Solves
  • uneven or messy sushi rolls
  • need for sushi-rolling skills
  • shaping rice balls by hand
  • lack of specialty tools

Sushi night at home, without the skill

Hand-rolled rice falls apart and rice balls come out lumpy. With ten molds, your rolls slice clean and your rice holds its shape, in minutes.

Three details that do the skilled part

Roll mold with ridged slicing guides

Eight slots share one base, and the ridged guides show the knife exactly where to cut. Press rice in, release it, and slice through the grooves for rounds with matching cross-sections. If you want to try a classic roll too, a pairs well with the kit.

Rice press for uniform shapes

The rectangular press and the cylinder mold pack rice to the same firmness each time. Load the rice, press it down with the pusher bar, and lift the mold away. Every piece comes out the same size, which is what makes a tray of rice balls look finished instead of hand-formed.

Heart-shaped rice for kids and parties

The heart mold turns plain rice into shapes kids actually want to eat. Set the hearts and cylinders on a platter next to the rolls and let everyone choose what goes on their plate.

From rice pot to sliced roll in minutes

  1. 1
    Cool the rice to warm

Hot, wet rice is soft and sticks to the molds. Let it cool until it is warm, not hot, before you press.

  2. 2
    Fill the roll mold evenly

Spread rice across each slot in a thin, even layer. Overfilling squeezes rice out the sides.

  3. 3
Press firmly with the pusher bar

Pack the rice down so it holds together. Loose packing is what falls apart on the cutting board.

  4. 4
    Release gently

Lift the mold away slowly so the shape stays intact.

  5. 5
    Slice along the grooves

Line the knife up with the ridged guides and make one steady pass.

  6. 6
    Shape rice balls and hearts

Use the heart, cylinder or rectangular press for shaped rice on bento trays and kids' plates.

Questions and answers

Is this plastic kit safe to use with cooked sushi rice?
w
Wanelo · seller

The set is molded plastic, made for pressing cooked rice at home. Let the rice cool until it is warm, not hot, before pressing, and rinse the pieces after each use so rice does not dry in the grooves.

Does the rice stick to the molds, and how do I release it?
w
Wanelo · seller

Rice sticks most when it is hot and wet. Cool it to warm, press it firmly with the pusher bar, then lift the mold away slowly. Slightly sticky rice holds its shape best.

What is included in the 10-piece set?
w
Wanelo · seller

You get an eight-slot roll mold base, a rectangular press, a heart-shaped mold, a cylinder mold, pusher bars, a rice paddle, a spreader and a rice spatula. The first sushi night needs nothing else.

Is it dishwasher safe?
w
Wanelo · seller

The plastic build is dishwasher style, so a rinse and a run through the dishwasher cleans it well. Rinse right after use, since dried rice is harder to lift out of the grooves.

Do I need sushi-rolling experience to use it?
w
Wanelo · seller

No. The roll mold does the shaping and the ridged guides do the cutting. If you can cook rice and press it into a pan, you can make a clean roll on the first try.

Is a plastic kit worth it compared with rolling by hand or buying pre-made sushi?
w
Wanelo · seller

Pre-made sushi costs more per piece than the rice you already cook, and a bamboo mat takes practice. This set covers roll, press and shape in one box, so one pot of rice becomes rolls, rice balls and bento pieces for the whole table.
