The power control is a single press on/off button on the black shell. There is nothing to set up or program. Press it to start the run, press again to stop.

From box to first roll

   Pick a cover

   Choose blue, pink, yellow or green. Open the zipper seam on the cover and fit it over the shell.

   Find the button

   Locate the PRESS ON/OFF button printed on the black shell.

   Press and leave it

   Press the button to start the ball. It moves in random paths, so you can clean while you do other things.

The gaps under the sofa keep winning

Every week the dust bunnies migrate a little further under the sofa and the bed. Pet hair spreads across the rug, and the broom only reaches the open floor. You sweep, you feel good for an afternoon, and then the corners fill up again.

A ball that goes where the broom can't

Press the on/off button on the black shell and the ball starts moving. It takes random paths across the room, rolling under furniture where a flat sweeper gets stuck. The plush outer cover does the collecting as it moves, so there is no pushing or hunting for the broom.

Come home to a cleaner floor

Set it going before you leave and come back to a floor that looks swept, with the ball parked in its usual spot. Swap in a fresh cover in blue, pink, yellow or green, and the time you would have spent on the floor goes back to you.

Keep the covers fresh

• Unzip and empty

  Open the zipper seam and shake out the dust and hair after each run.

• Wash the cover

  Remove the plush cover from the shell and wash it when it fills up.

• Clear the drive

  Pull hair off the drive wheel and gears so the ball keeps rolling freely.
