Description

Four bands and dual standby in one vehicle-mounted radio. The KT-7900D watches two channels at once, so the call from the lead vehicle does not get missed. The kit includes the antenna, bracket and programming cable, so the install is ready to go.

Four bands in one compact mobile radio with dual-standby monitoring

Solves
  • needing separate radios for multiple frequency bands
  • monitoring two channels at once
  • programming channels without complex hardware

Cover every band on the road with one mobile radio

Stop swapping radios or missing calls on the channel you were not watching. The KT-7900D monitors two channels at once across four bands, so your convoy stays in touch from the first mile.

Four bands, watched at once

Four bands in one radio

The radio covers 136-174MHz, 220-260MHz, 350-390MHz and 400-480MHz. The color LCD shows four frequencies at once, so you see the band you are on and the others without digging through menus. One unit replaces the handheld you would have carried for each band.

Watch two channels at once

Quad standby is on the packaging, and the front panel gives you direct control. Rotary volume and channel knobs, MONI, FM, V/M, CALL and EXIT are where your hand expects them, so you can switch the watched channel without looking down for long.

Built for the road

The ribbed heatsink housing and cooling fan keep the body working through long drives. The chrome antenna connector and DC power lead with red and black wires sit on the back, so the wiring runs straight to the battery and the antenna without an adapter.

Questions and answers

Is the KT-7900D compatible with my vehicle and existing antenna setup?
w
Wanelo · seller

The kit ships with a quad band antenna, a mounting bracket with coaxial cable and a DC power lead with red and black wires, so you can wire the radio without buying extra parts. An existing antenna has to cover the bands you plan to use, so check its frequency range before you reuse it.

Can I program it with the included USB cable and software without extra hardware?
w
Wanelo · seller

Yes. The USB programming cable connects the radio to a laptop, and the software CD is in the box. Set your channels on the computer before the first trip, then change them later the same way.

Is the quad band coverage worth it if I only use one or two bands?
w
Wanelo · seller

If you only ever use one band, a single-band mobile costs less up front. The value shows up when a group runs on different bands. One unit covers 136-174MHz, 220-260MHz, 350-390MHz and 400-480MHz, so you skip buying a second or third radio and the mounting and wiring that comes with each one.

What comes in the box and what do I still need to buy?
w
Wanelo · seller

You get the radio, the handheld keypad microphone, two quad band antennas, a mounting bracket with coaxial cable, a USB programming cable and the programming software CD. Everything needed to install and program the unit is included.

Is it suitable for off-road use and rough vehicle conditions?
w
Wanelo · seller

It is built for cars, trucks and vans on road trips, convoys and off-road runs. The ribbed heatsink and cooling fan are made to shed heat inside a closed cab. Mount the bracket firmly so the radio does not shake loose on rough trails.

Does dual standby mean I can monitor two channels at once?
w
Wanelo · seller

Yes. Dual standby keeps two channels in watch, so you can hear the lead vehicle on one channel and a backup or emergency channel on the other without switching.
