Finish a threaded hole in one chuck, with no bit swaps and no crooked start. The bit drills the pilot, cuts the entry chamfer and taps the thread while the driver holds it square. Built from cobalt HSS with a titanium-coated thread section for metal work with a cordless driver.
One bit that drills, chamfers and taps threads, fits any hex-shank drill
- Swapping between drill bit and tap bit
- Cross-threading or misaligned holes
- Hand tapping effort on metal and hard materials
Drill, chamfer and tap in one bit, no swaps
Stop swapping between drill and tap on every hole. Chuck up one hex-shank bit and go from bare metal to a clean, true thread.
Three operations, one bit, one chuck
- Drill, chamfer and tap in one
The tip starts the pilot, the next section breaks the edge of the hole, and the threaded flutes finish the job. You never pull the bit to change tools, which is where most crooked threads begin.
- Fits the drill you already own
The 1/4 inch hex shank runs in standard cordless drivers and impact drivers. The flats grip the chuck, so the bit turns with the driver instead of slipping in the jaws.
- Titanium-coated cobalt body
Cobalt HSS carries the cutting load in hard metal. The titanium-coated thread section adds a slick, hard surface that helps the teeth cut with less hand effort. The black-oxide band on the shank marks where the bit stops.
Drill, chamfer, tap in three passes
- 1Drill the pilot square
Set the bit square to the surface and drill the pilot at slow speed. Keep the driver steady so the tip does not wander.
- 2Chamfer the entry
Keep the same bit turning and let the chamfer section break the edge of the hole. A clean entry helps the first thread start straight.
- 3Tap in forward passes
Turn in short forward passes and back off every few turns to clear chips. On steel and stainless, add cutting fluid before each thread.

The swap that ruins a straight thread

The swap that ruins the hole
You drill the pilot, pull the bit, reach for a tap and start turning by hand. Halfway through the thread the bit wanders and the hole finishes crooked. Every changeover is another chance to lose the start.

One bit, one chuck
The hex shank seats in the driver chuck and the same bit drills the pilot, cuts the entry chamfer and taps the thread. Nothing comes out between steps, so the drill stays square to the work from the first pass to the last.

A straight thread, done
The cobalt body and titanium-coated thread section cut clean with steady drill pressure. The thread starts true, the fastener seats square, and the afternoon goes back to the project.
What to expect as you use the set
- First UseFirst hole done in one setup
Drill the pilot, chamfer the entry and tap the thread with the same bit. Expect slow, steady passes and a clean first thread.
- 3 UsesChuck and rhythm feel natural
You learn how much pressure the driver needs and when to back out to clear chips. Passes get quicker as the motion becomes familiar.
- 30 DaysThe set becomes your go-to tap
Regular use shows how the coating and cobalt body hold up on your materials. Check the threads on your own work to judge wear.

Questions and answers
The shank is 1/4 inch hex, the standard size for impact drivers and hex-collet drill chucks. A three-jaw chuck will grip it too, but a hex adapter holds the bit more firmly under torque.
Cobalt HSS holds its edge in hard metal, and the titanium-coated thread section adds wear resistance. One bit also replaces a drill and tap pair on every hole, so you save bit changes and avoid scrapped parts from crooked starts.
The cobalt body is built for hard metal. In plastic, use light pressure, a slow speed and frequent back-off turns so the material does not melt or bind the bit.
The metric set runs M10x1.5 through M3x0.5, the BSW set runs 3/8-16 through 1/8-40, and the UNC set runs 10-24NC through 8-32NC. Each size is stamped on its shank.
Use cutting fluid on steel and stainless. It cools the cutting edges and keeps chips from packing, which protects the threads and the bit.
